If you are anything like me, then you’re nervous about what’s going to happen tonight. It does not matter in the slightest to me your political views, but no one can deny that either way, tomorrow we will wake up with half of the country upset that their candidate did not win. And either way, there will be a new President that has to overcome a lot of hurdles and disappointment with their election.
No matter what you’re feeling tonight, can I just encourage you to pray?
Pray for our new President. Pray that he or she would see the light of the Lord and come to know Him.
Pray that we can each be an example of God’s love, and that even if the world says that something is okay, we would know His commands and hold ourselves to a higher standard.
Pray for our churches, that we would be united in God’s love for each one of us.
Pray for the suffering, those who do not have a safe place to go home to tonight.
Pray for those in fear, that they would know that the true rock will guide them through all scary times.
Pray for the discouraged, that they would find the ultimate encouragement.
Pray this prayer with me:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
–Prayer of Peace, St. Francis of Assisi
Tonight, I join you in prayer. Tomorrow morning, I will not cease.
